I blogged a little while ago about Emily and Don’s moving, personal wedding ceremony in Mellon Park’s walled garden. Immediately following the ceremony, Emily and Don and their bridal party waited just outside the walled garden for a few minutes while their guests made their way over to the Center for the Arts.

Just as we were making our way back for some bridal party pictures. we were a little surprised to see this guy walk past. One guy in drag was a surprise. But we were not all prepared to discover that he was actually the leader of a pack!

That’s right, just about 15 minutes after this garden had been the scene of an intimate wedding ceremony, it was now part of the route of a whole stampede of folks in drag. The bridal party had a great sense of humor about this unexpected and rather surreal incident. This guy was very sweet. He was very concerned that they had been too disruptive to the wedding party, apologizing for the interruption. He also explained what the heck this was all about. They’re part of the group the Hash House Harriers. They schedule runs where the leader of the group sets a trail and ensures that the trail involves multiple drink stops. The rest of the pack hunts for the clues and follows the leader. Membership fees are donated to charity. Definitely an experience I will not forget!
