My sister, Beth, and her family got a puppy. She is, of course, the cutest thing ever.

I really never thought this day would come. While we always had dogs when we were kids, my sister was never particularly fond of them. When we were in high school, we had three large dogs. I can remember seeing my sister trying to walk through the kitchen amidst the small pack roaming about. She’d say, “TOO MANY DOGS!!!” And she had a point, three large dogs was a lot of dogs.

But now, many years later, she had to reckon with a very strong force… the will of her daughter, Kate. For years, Kate kept saying all she wanted was “a sister or a puppy. A sister or a puppy.” The sister wasn’t happening, so Beth caved and decided it was puppy time.

Now Trixie is here and I love my little puppy niece so much! They live on the other side of the state, but recently came for a visit.

It is not easy to photograph such a dark dog! It was pretty gray while they were here (I know, gray in Pittsburgh?!), but the sun came out the last day. Enjoy a few photos of our new family member.

Trixie somehow got a sticker on her nose, so of course I took a picture before I came to her aid.

The happy family.
