It’s an honor to be a part of any bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah celebration, but I’m particularly honored when a family asks me back for a younger sibling. I was so happy to see Anna‘s younger sister, Maevis, celebrating becoming a bat mitzvah at Rodef Shalom. I couldn’t believe it had been five years, and older sister Anna is a senior in high school!
And now it’s 2016, and it was Maevis’s turn to take the spotlight on the bimah. While Maevis was nervous prior to the service, she was still poised and full of smiles. In addition to the classic must-have photos, I loved the little moments of the day… her younger cousins hugging as the Torah was brought out… the proud beaming parents… Maevis marveling over the beautiful succulent floral design by Hepatica… and, of course, the mingled fear and joy during the hora. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the wonderful day.
