Two weekends ago I had the awesome pleasure once again of shooting cinema alongside my great fun friend and amazing photographer, Randi Voss. You can see a whole lot of photos from Anna & Nick’s wedding on Randi’s blog. You don’t want to miss the bridal party alongside a big dinosaur and a gorgeous bride and groom in front of a wall of butterflies. (My favorite image is the one in front of the color wall with the reflection of the tree.)

No photographer’s blog post is complete without pictures… so, here are a few detail shots from the reception. I had just a little down time before the reception started. Randi knows I love to shoot details, so she encouraged me to capture a few shots of the room. Enjoy these two photos of the amazing setup of the Music Hall Foyer.

Lindsay’s family is a little bigger than Shannon’s. Rattling off Lindsay’s kids’ ages might frighten those not terribly fond of the din of children. There are five of them, and they’re 11, 10, 9, 4 and 3. Yep, that’s right. I give Lindsay more credit than there’s space to list here, because she did not seem the slightest bit overwhelmed or stressed. And now that I’ve met these five kids, I can see why. I didn’t hear any whining, fighting, squabbling, moaning or grousing. I’m not sure anyone even rolled their eyes. (Lindsay, feel free to fill me in on your secret!)

I was so honored that the girls showed me their dance routine. We also spent some time enjoying the scenery. How could you not on such a beautiful fall day?

I was stunned when about 10 days before her wedding, Jerri asked if I’d be willing to do a shoot for her sister. Before her wedding. Would I mind? I thought… would I mind? No, I wouldn’t mind, but would she mind? I thought if I was getting married, I might want to have my sister around to do important last minute tasks like bringing me champagne or creme brulee, or straightening my piles of bobby pins. But Jerri assured me that she didn’t mind a bit. Her sister, Shannon, had admired Jerri’s engagement photos, and wanted some pictures of her own family as she was just in Pittsburgh for a couple days for the wedding.

I first got to meet Shannon’s very handsome 3-year-old son, Will. He’s a happy guy.

Who loves to snuggle and smooch his mom.

Will didn’t hesitate, he climbed right up the ladder. Thank you, ladder, for having accents of green.

That’s Will’s dad, Bill, on the right. (He was the one in the wedding photos carrying gifts through the rain.)

Bill’s from Mississippi, and has a very charming Southern drawl.

The apple came right off a tree in the yard.

I’m not sure if Will knows this, but I’m pretty sure he’s signing “apple.”

Shannon, Bill and Will – thanks for coming early for your photo shoot! It was fun and an honor to photograph a faraway family. And Bill, thanks for braving the heat.

Morna wasn’t interested in the dance either. A few other people from various schools were talking in the lobby, and one of them had a guitar. It’s a lot easier to play a guitar quietly than a piano, so this guy was able to keep playing. Morna and I both found ourselves among this group and started talking. And we’ve been friends ever since. She’s been there for me so many times, and is one of those people you can tell anything to, without fear of being judged. She’s a rock.

Last week when I went to visit my family and hometown of Doylestown in Bucks County, PA, I was delighted to have the opportunity to photograph Morna’s three girls.

Mollie is almost 6.

Ana is almost 4.

And Gia is 2.

After thinking about different locations, we decided to stay close to home. Very close. All of these were taken at my parents’ house, where we were staying.

It’s a beautiful spot. Stone walls, old buildings, lots of room to run around. But there was one slight catch. My boys were there, too. They saw that there were cute girls about, and they did not want to miss out.

Poor guys! The girls were also anxious to get in some Leo entertainment and were asking to “go inside,” which I’m sure was their way of saying “let us at those cute blond boys!” So we had a quick snack break, and then let everyone loose.

What are they looking at? Leo, of course, acting like a goofball. I think he was hitting himself in the head and falling down or something.

And you probably figured this out already, you clever blog reader, but the beautiful blond adult above is Morna. And here she is again with Mollie.

It’s all boys in my house, except for me. In Morna’s family, Greg has that role, the only male in a house full of girls. Greg had to work while the girls came for their morning photo shoot, so we met quickly that evening at the Star Garden in Doylestown for a family picture.

What? A picture with no kids? Absolutely. But just one, before the kids run into the street…
