It really doesn’t matter, because the whole point is to have fun. In fact, parents are ordered to only provide positive feedback, and they very specifically don’t keep score.

I love that all the teams have spirited names, not just The Red Team. Leo was thrilled when he found out he was on the Piranhas. Especially since every time he was in a pool this summer, he pretended to be a Piranha.

A couple weeks ago, his team had an early morning game. Since the sun wouldn’t be so high and harsh, I decided this was a perfect opportunity to shoot some video of his practice and game.

An additional motivator was that the opposing team had a few players who were in his pre-K class. I had a feeling he might be a little silly playing against them.

I was right. Oh, was I right! There was LOTS of silliness. Even our wonderful, upbeat, patient coach, who definitely sticks to offering only positive feedback, had to tell him to knock it off a couple times.

Enjoy this clip. If you have any doubt about which one is Leo, he’s the goof with brown pants who insists on wearing his shin guards OVER his pants. Sigh.

And now I’m off to a soccer game, a birthday party, and a wedding on a gorgeous October Saturday.

Lindsay’s family is a little bigger than Shannon’s. Rattling off Lindsay’s kids’ ages might frighten those not terribly fond of the din of children. There are five of them, and they’re 11, 10, 9, 4 and 3. Yep, that’s right. I give Lindsay more credit than there’s space to list here, because she did not seem the slightest bit overwhelmed or stressed. And now that I’ve met these five kids, I can see why. I didn’t hear any whining, fighting, squabbling, moaning or grousing. I’m not sure anyone even rolled their eyes. (Lindsay, feel free to fill me in on your secret!)

Just the girls. Hannah was not too crazy about getting these smooches from her sisters.

The boys were not going to go for the smooching.

I was so honored that the girls showed me their dance routine. We also spent some time enjoying the scenery. How could you not on such a beautiful fall day?

A picture of the parents – without kids? Absolutely.

Like when my family went over to the local high school for some exercise. Little Jonas loves to run on the track, which, of course like everything he does, is utterly adorable.

I thought it would be fun to get a profile shot of him running, using a slow shutter speed for some motion blur. But I got distracted and the little speedster was upon me before I knew it. No time to focus! So I got this gem. A complete blur, but I love it. I especially love that he is running toward the “3″ just as he is always getting closer to his third birthday.
Then it was time to rest. How could I resist the leading lines of the bleachers? And yes, I do love the 16-35mm lens. Jonas requested this one.
