UPDATE: For photos of a real Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh wedding, check out Molly and Andy’s blog post here. Photos of their terrific details are here, and I also wrote about their wonderfully personal and moving ceremony here.

It’s open! I’m so excited that downtown Pittsburgh is now home to the Kimpton Hotels’ Hotel Monaco. Located at the corner of William Penn Place and Sixth Avenue, just across from the recently renovated Mellon Square Plaza, this eclectic hotel brings refreshing, quirky decor and unique amenities.

You expect to find a bathrobe in your hotel room – but at the Hotel Monaco, you’ll find a yoga mat. Bicycles are available to all guests. Coffee and tea are available in the morning, and you can attend a wine hour in the evening.

I dare you not to smile when you walk into the hotel’s “living room,” the lounge that’s far too welcoming and cozy to be called a “lobby.”

This is Antoinette. She’s in charge of the Living Room. Clearly, she is awesome.

Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh AntoinetteI could fill this space with many more photos of the Living Room, but, let’s move on to the ballrooms available for Hotel Monaco weddings!

There are two large ballrooms: Sofia and Sheffield. Sofia is a little bit smaller, accommodating up to 170 guests for a seated dinner reception, while Sheffield can seat up to 240. Both are two-story rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, a fun swirly black and white carpet, and towering white columns. You can have your ceremony in one room, and reception in the other, or just choose one room.

There’s also a very large terrace on the 9th floor. This would be a fantastic space for a ceremony or cocktail hour! I did visit it, and I can assure you it’s a great size, but as it was your typical snowy January Pittsburgh day, I did not photograph it.
