I’ve been looking forward to Christie & Jon’s wedding for a long time! As soon as they started telling me about their rather unconventional plans, I knew this was going to be a fun change of pace. And without a doubt, it was! Many thanks to Nicki Dembski for assisting me for this unique and moving wedding day.

We began the day at The Renaissance Hotel. Christie had lucked out with an upgrade to a beautiful room with this HUGE balcony. It’s atypical for me to share not one, but THREE detail photos up front, but with a dress, shoes and location like this, I can’t resist.

Christie & Jon used black and white for all their details, and these fun striped ties fit in perfectly. Christie & Jon opted to do a first look before the ceremony, overlooking the Allegheny River. It’s not uncommon for the bride to spin around so the groom can take in her whole ensemble. Jon decided to do that for Christie, too. After their portraits downtown, we made our way over to the Heinz History Center for a few more photos, and their ceremony. Christie & Jon’s ceremony took place in the Library & Archives room at the History Center. PriorĀ  to the ceremony, this young man treated the guests to a sampling of Michael Jackson songs. As stated in the program, “Why all Michael Jackson songs? Why not!” Awesome. Christie & Jon wrote their own vows, which were heartfelt, funny and perfect. Without a doubt, this one was on my most favorite bridal parties ever. To each of you, thank you so much for your cooperation and assistance. And especially to the groomsmen who helped Nicki and I carry some of our gear! After the ceremony, we headed back downtown for Christie & Jon’s reception at Olive or Twist. But first, a few more portraits at the perfect time of day! And now, for Joe, the brother of the bride! Joe has a background in vocal performance, and at Christie & Jon’s request, sang as they were introduced. He was FANTASTIC. Two maids of honor + two Best Men = four toasts. DJ Andy Hutelmyer kept the party going and going and going….These signature drinks sounded mighty good. Christie & Jon, thank you so much for an extraordinary day. I hope you are enjoying every minute of your honeymoon!
