Project 365: I’m doing it

Last fall I posted a series of 7×7 video clips. That was fun! But for 2011 I’ve moved on to a new project: Project 365. This isn’t a new idea – lots and lots of people have endeavored to shoot a photo a day. I’ve always thought it was crazy and didn’t think I would ever be able to commit.

But for some reason on January 1 this year, I decided I wanted to give it a try. Why? To push myself. I can’t ever stop myself from seeing creatively. I see photos everywhere I go, but I rarely take the time to actually shoot them. My goal with this project is to be sure that I shoot for myself and make pictures that are just for me. And to document the beauty that I see all around me every day.

The perfect example: day 9. My husband came upstairs and saw me in the bathroom with my camera.

Him: what are you doing?
Me: Oh, you know, shooting a tub of lotion.
Him: Okay, you’ve finally lost it.

He may be right… but when I showed him the photo on the camera’s LCD screen, he had to admit it was pretty cool.

I plan to use this project for photos like the one above as well as documenting daily experiences, like being out with my kids in the snow.

I’m sharing my photos on the Project 365 website. Feel free to follow me there or find me on Facebook.

And if wedding season comes and I can’t keep up… well, I tried!

I’m so happy that you are doing this project. But more happy that I can see the results. Cheers to you for taking photos every day and double cheers on the decision not to upload/process every day. Genius!

I love that you’re doing this. I remember last January I told you I was and you said, “I think that would drive me crazy.” I hope it doesn’t. Mine taught me a lot. And it’s great to see the shots that you are doing for yourself.

Woodsy table numbers & lantern centerpieces

Last month I shared some of Melissa and Jason’s beautiful blue and brown wedding details. Keeping with the outdoorsy tree theme, Melissa had these fabulous rustic table numbers. They complemented the trees in her printed materials perfectly, and weren’t just functional, but really acted as part of the centerpiece decor.

Together with the candlelit lanterns, they looked great.Great finds, Melissa!

Hi Christina – Great photos! I would like to give a shout out to my mom who actually made the table numbers, menus and place cards. Couldn’t have done it without her!

Hi Melissa,
Does your mom sell the table numbers? I would love to buy a set from her – they are fabulous!
