Emily and Don – quick preview

Emily and Don’s wedding yesterday was just the kind I love – personal and different. Emily and Don created a celebration that truly reflected who they are – and they are unique!

I have some absolutely stunning photos to share of their whole day – including one series that will definitely be a good answer when people ask “what’s the strangest thing that’s ever happened to you at a wedding?”  – but I wanted to share just a few for Emily and Don before they head off for their honeymoon.

Huge thanks to my superb second shooter Pamela Marie for her talent yesterday.

Emily and Don devoted time before the ceremony for pictures of them and their bridal party. We had a quick stroll down their street, which has some perfectly picturesque spots. I want to live here!

Emily and Don’s ceremony was at 6pm in the newly renovated walled garden at Mellon Park in Shadyside, followed by a reception at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.Emily and Don – I’m so happy I was able to be there to be a part of your wedding. Thank you! Have a wonderful trip!

Amy & Andrew – Engagement session in Frick Park

Amy & Andrew met while in medical school at Pitt. Andrew’s now a resident, and Amy’s in her last year of medical school. And next September, they’re getting married!

The night of their engagement session at Frick Park was your typical Pittsburgh weather. Gray. But not raining – and that’s all that mattered.

I am really glad that the mission of the shoot was not to create serious, dramatic images. Because I think there were about three seconds the entire time that Amy was not smiling. Beaming, really.Amy is petite, and Andrew is quite strong. So naturally, this happened.

But then Andrew graciously put Amy down. So we could create this nice quiet portrait.Of course, then he scooped her up again…Love this bench. It would be nice to say that the sun came out for this photo, but it would also not be true. Thanks again to my friend Alyssa for coming along to be sure my light stand didn’t blow away.Amy & Andrew – this was a blast! I know we are going to have loads of fun at your wedding next fall.

You don’t need to wait for the sun if you’re bringing your own light! Beautiful job. My favorite being the black and white portrait before the one on the bench. Great job with the happy couple.
