Around the old homestead…

My family and I spent a week after Christmas visiting my parents, back where I spent my childhood and adolescent years.

A lot has changed – it’s quite the combination of old and new. One of the new goats:

A newly renovated kitchen.

Kitchen backsplash, which incorporates Mercer tiles that have been in the house since it was built many, many years ago.  (I forget just how old it is!)

An old chair

In the barn.

I LOVE the chair and the barn. How rural is your parents’ place? I love imagining kid-Christy running around a farm!

Ha! It’s not that rural, but it was a lot more rural when I was a kid living there. Back then we had woods on one side, a property with over 80 acres on another side, and cornfields on the other sides. Now the woods are houses, the big property is still big but subdivided, and the cornfields are houses. But we did have enough space that we had sheep, goats and horses at various times. And briefly, a rooster. We had to get rid of him because he chased joggers.
