Weddings at The Pennsylvanian
Brides and grooms planning a wedding in Pittsburgh are fortunate to have a wide variety of venues available. I recall when I was getting married how overwhelmed I felt by all the choices, and how I looked high and low trying to find information and pictures of all of them (and back then, the Internet wasn’t quite as robust as it is now. And most photographers were still using film!) Wedding planning can bring out the obsessive quality in anyone, and I was no exception. I never tired of looking at pictures of my favorite choices. To aid couples looking for a place to hold their reception, this is the first in a series of reception site spotlights, featuring some of my favorite venues.
One of the most sought-after, elegant locations to hold a wedding reception is the stately Pennsylvanian. More than 100 years old, The Pennsylvanian was originally a train station, but now houses residences, offices, and a spacious room for receptions and other events.
The Pennsylvanian’s Rotunda
Rain or shine, you can hold your cocktail hour outside in The Pennsylvanian’s enormous Rotunda. The majestic archways make this a standout space.
The Pennsylvanian’s Ballroom
And inside, it only gets better. The ballroom, originally the train concourse, features a vaulted, 40 foot ceiling. And you can see here that much of the ceiling is a skylight.
I love these dark wood chairs. Other chair color selections are also available.
The marble lends elegance to the spacious dance floor. And there’s plenty of room for a band, too.
