Brides and grooms choosing to get married in Pittsburgh are fortunate to have a wide variety of venues for their weddings. This is the second in a series of features on some of these sites. I hope that these photos will be helpful to those trying to narrow their search and envision their wedding at any of these places.

First up: the Carnegie Museum in Oakland. The Museum features extraordinary, dramatic architecture and creates a breathtaking backdrop.

Before your ceremony, and between the ceremony and reception, the wedding party has full access to the Founders Room, a large, beautiful room where you can relax and have a little privacy.

The Music Hall Foyer is a spacious, elegant, beautiful location for a wedding reception. Look at the ceiling!

And the floor!

Guests can spend cocktail hour on the balcony overlooking the reception area below.

The service at the Museum runs seamlessly. I was particularly impressed by Eileen, the Events Manager, who oversaw every detail, no matter how large or small. I clearly recall her calm, confident voice, when as the ceremony began, she stood just out of sight, but close enough for the bridesmaids and bride to hear her as she told them when to start walking down the aisle. I know if I was in that situation, that is just the kind of reassuring voice I would want to hear as I prepared to make my entrance.

I feel strongly that brides and grooms deserve special, exquisite treatment on their wedding day. They shouldn’t have to worry about small details or feel like they have to solve problems and answer questions. I could tell that the Museum staff had this commitment to service as well. I highly recommend the Carnegie Museum!

A final note: the Carnegie Museum is no longer scheduling events in the Hall of Architecture due to renovations and ownership transferring to the Carnegie Museum of Art.
